Frozen Carnage is a somber single player experience about the events known as the Kandahar massacre. In the early hours of 11 March 2012 the American soldier Robert Bales presumably murdered 16 civilians and wounded six others in the Panjwayi District of Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. While the American authorities insist that he acted by himself, Afghani witnesses and investigators insist that a larger group of soldier were involved in the atrocities. Robert Bales currently serves a life sentence in the US. The families of the victims were given a total of $ 860.000 with the authorities stressing, that this would be not compensation but assistance.
This experience is an artistic speculation of the events, biased by how the events were told by witnesses. It is a frozen moment in time, that can be experienced in a three dimensional space, that is interpolated with various news items and victim statements.
