In the past year, Reinhold researched the subject of styles and techniques in the field of animation, in particular the tension between "digital" and "analog": what lacks the digital to be received as "human", what is it, that makes certain Stop-motion or hand-drawn animations so appealing, where does the digital "Uncanny Valley" begin, and what are possibilities to create "human & charming" digital styles for animated films?
For these questions, Reinhold has teamed up with Florian Berger (programmer at the Ars Electronica Futurelab Linz), in the context of this open studio they will talk about their research and their experiments in this field.
Whether there will be virtual “Vanillekipferl” that evening remains to be seen...
