After 13 years, FLIPT! - the Austrian flipbook festival successfully returned and thrilled audiences with an impressive show of the oldest moving image format at the Glaskubus on OK-Platz in Linz from November 14 to 17, 2024. The 4th edition of the festival, initiated by ANIMA PLUS, a Linz-based association for the promotion of animation art and culture, and the initiators of the format (Bidner Reinhold & Christian Korherr), presented around 100 flipbooks created by pupils, students and artists. From drawn short stories and AI-generated animations to abstract experiments, the festival offered a diverse program. The opening gala was rounded off with a live audiovisual animation performance.

The festival was made possible thanks to the support of Linz Kultur and OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH and was organized in collaboration with the FH Upper Austria, gold extra and OK Linz. With 424 visitors over three days, the event was a complete success.

1st place: *schtzngrmm* by Martin Bruner & Günther Kolar
2nd place: *Toilet FliPbÖok* by “Die Herbert K.i.”
3rd place: *Athenes Transfer* by Renate Kordon
Outlook
A selection of the flipbooks will also be shown in the future, including at the NEXT COMIC Festival in Linz in 2025 and at the FH Upper Austria, Campus Hagenberg. The next edition of FLIPT! is planned for 2026 and once again promises to focus on the creativity and diversity of flipbook art.
