GAME TALK: Visiting the Brain: Inner Worlds in Games
Lecture/talk with Jessica Kathmann and Sonja Prlić
The renowned game blogger from Behind the Screens, author, and scientist Jessica Kathmann explores the inner worlds of games.
Games reflect culture and society on two levels: by addressing current issues and in the way they negotiate and represent those issues. This also applies to the inner emotional worlds of their characters—from inner conflicts to mental illness. How and why do such games fascinate us? What do they say about society and how have they changed over time? Psychologist Jessica Kathmann sheds light on these questions with examples from blockbusters and indie games. The lecture will be followed by a discussion with Sonja Prlić.
