Seda Röder has made a name for herself as one of the most interesting interpreters of contemporary music thanks to her varied efforts and her unusual concert programmes. ‘She is a master of the avant-garde piano arts, her dialogues with silence captivated me hugely,’ Alfred Brendel once commented, impressed by her musical ability. As an associate at Harvard University (2007–2011) she explored the Viennese music scene of the early 20th century. In addition Seda has intensively confronted early music and historical performance practice. In her 2010 album ‘Listening to Istanbul’, Seda Röder presents a broad spectrum of largely unknown contemporary music from Turkey. She has won several awards for her artistic work; she was granted scholarships by the Austrian ministry of education, the German Academic Exchange Service, the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Richard Wagner Verband in Munich. Her most recent album ‘Black and White Statements’ consists of twelve miniatures by contemporary Austrian composers, all of which reinvent and define piano music for themselves.
